FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – William S. Belichick quoted Dwight D. Eisenhower Friday.
New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick was asked about the value of preparation going into Sunday’s AFC title game here against the Indianapolis Colts.
He referenced Eisenhower, 34th president of the United States and five-star general and supreme commander of allied forces in Europe during World War II.
“No matter how much preparation you do, it’s still going to be different in the game,” Belichick said at a press conference, sporting jeans, sneakers and a wind breaker cut off at the sleeves.
“It’s like going back to Dwight Eisenhower’s quote, (paraphrasing) preparation is everything until the battle starts, and then it doesn’t mean anything. Then you react to what happens in the game. In his case, what happens in the battle.”
